I was born and raised in Libya and came to the United States a few years ago. I have a medical degree (MBChB) and a master degree in Dermatology from Libya. Since coming to the United States, I have earned another Master’s degree in International Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. I am currently completing a third Master’s degree in Global Public Health at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN.
AREA OF WORK
During my practicum at WellShare, my area of work was to support community education on various non-communicable diseases, like diabetes, asthma, and hypertension. I created a standardized educational template, customized it for various health topics, and created an evaluation plan to assess its clarity.
I consider myself an international volunteer based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Practicum: June – August 2017 Volunteer: February 2018-Present
I love painting, cooking, and traveling. I have traveled to many European and Middle Eastern countries. I love meeting people from different cultures, and I like to work with minority populations.
When I was in the process of choosing my practicum, I was encouraged by my department to select Wellshare. When I learned more, I could see why. It’s a great place to use my experience in medical health to support public health.
YOUR FAVORITE PART
My favorite part was the awesome people. I loved working with my preceptor, Laura Sanka. I also admired the long-term commitment of the Executive Director, Diana. She has created a supportive, collaborative working environment and helps make WellShare a truly special place.
“During my great time at WellShare, I was really impressed with the collaborative and positive staff dynamics and that encouraged me to develop a commitment to volunteering with this wonderful organization.”
