Mental Health Resources
WellShare recognizesmental health as foundational to physical health and optimal wellbeing. Mental health issues and interventions are often stigmatized in many of the cultural communities we serve, despite the alarming rise in suicide, violent crime, substance abuse, and overdose.
Realizing the imperative need to address this prevalent crisis, we developed opportunities to respond through a cross sectoral approach. Throughcollaboration of community members, clients, staff, healthcare systems, local non-profit organizations, and funders, we createda comprehensive mental health strategy.
This multi-phase strategy allows us to pilot, develop and expand services across programs. WellShareCHWs will participate in training through the MN Department of Health’s evidence-basedMental Health First Aid where they will learn toidentify mental health crises and refer to intervention. Further, all staff will have the opportunity to complete a 20-hour mindfulness skills training.
