For 45 years, WellShare’s mission is to advance health equity through community-defined solutions that are effective and affordable. In Minnesota, we partner with Hispanic, Somali, Karen and Hmong communities to eliminate health and related socio-economic disparities among individuals who have recently made Minnesota their home. Our Community Health Workers provide culturally tailored health education, direct care and other resources on such topics as diabetes, nutrition, reproductive health, and tobacco use. In addition, we work in the Bariadi District of Tanzania to integrate health education, economic self-sufficiency and social connectedness for mothers and their families.
In this role, you will provide valuable and critical support to the organization’s Development department, working both independently and as part of a team. This position is mostly virtual but may require onsite visits for specific projects in our Minneapolis office or special events off-site.
Assist in the creation of grant applications, LOI’s and grant research
Assist with data entry, running reports in Fundraising Database (Bloomerang)
Assist with sending out timely donor acknowledgement communications
Assist in soliciting sponsorships for upcoming fundraising events
Assist with organization and management of agency and private donor events
Participate in team meetings and be willing to contribute to other team activities requested
General support; including both routine tasks and special projects
Desired Skills and Experience
Excellent communications skills in English (written and verbally)
Administrative and computer proficiency including Excel and Word
Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes
Strong ability to communicate and coordinate with other team members
Flexible and adaptable to a rapid paced environment
Willingness to work with a culturally diverse staff
Internship candidates will be trained in a range of aspects of development including grant writing, database management, event planning and execution, and more.
Interns will gain direct hands-on experience, as well as learn through observation by working closely with our Development Officer. You will have the opportunity to build work competencies required in nonprofit fundraising and management, and work alongside a talented, culturally diverse team of dedicated professionals.
