Development Intern
Position: Development Intern
Reports to: Development Officer
In this role, you will provide valuable and critical support to the organization’s Development department and assist the Development Officer in additional fundraising-related tasks. The intern will execute tasks individually and as part of a team. The position is mostly remote but may require support at in-person events and staff meetings in our Minneapolis office.

We are a non-profit organization headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with an over forty-year history of partnering with communities, health care systems, government, and social service providers to promote health equity and wellbeing. Using a community health worker (CHW) model, we work with underserved communities in Minnesota and rural Africa. Our programs serve people across their lifespans, including pregnant people, infants, children, youth, adults, and the elderly.
Primary duties
- Assist in database management, running reports, and data entry in the donor database (Bloomerang).
- Help coordinate fundraising and donor engagement events
- Oversee procurement of in-kind gifts of prizes and gift cards from local establishments
- Assist in grant tracking and researching grant opportunities
- Assist in new donor and foundation prospecting
- Assist in general operating grant writing and drafting content for grant proposals and collecting internal and external data
- Assist in sponsorship procurement and outreach efforts
- Will participate and assist in monthly Donor Engagement Committee meetings with board members and volunteers
- Assist in the creation of donor presentations, impact reports, donor surveys, newsletters, and other donor and board communications
Desired Skills and Experience
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Administrative and computer proficiency including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience with Donor database and email
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes
- Flexible and adaptable

Interns will gain direct hands-on experience in these areas while developing an understanding of the marketing and development functions that support a non-profit organization. Compensation, Dates, and Time Commitment
The intern will receive a stipend of $1,000 at the end of the internship. This position requires a weekly commitment of 12-15 hours with a time frame of 6 to 9 months, hours are flexible and will be designated in coordination with the Development Officer.
